Barr Charles Okenwa hails from Abia State in Nigeria. His passion for human rights, advocacy, and justice for the less privileged drove him to study law. He studied law and graduated from Abia State University in Nigeria.

He completed the mandatory five-year course in the university as part of the requirements to become a lawyer in Nigeria and proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Kano, for the final one-year professional training program. There, he was awarded his Bachelor of Laws degree and license to practice in Nigeria in 2013.

Upon graduation, he completed internships with various reputable Law Firms to gain hands-on experience in the legal profession for three years before co-founding his law chamber associates.

Professional Certifications & NGO Initiatives

He has been involved in continuous mandatory legal training, obtaining certifications in Rule of Law and Anti-corruption programs organized by the European Union. He also earned a certificate in Legislative Drafting organized by the National Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), an arm of the National Assembly of Nigeria (NASS).

Additionally, he jointly conducted a seminar and workshop on research and networking for justice reform, human rights, and good governance, organized and sponsored by the MacArthur Foundation.


All these professional experiences propelled his desire to establish a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in 2020 named Daddy's House Foundation for the less privileged. The foundation's primary objectives are:

  1. Reforming the criminal justice system in Africa.
  2. Providing pro-bono legal services to the less privileged.
  3. Providing rehabilitation and skill acquisition for inmates and trafficked persons.
  4. Sensitizing the public on legal matters in accordance with the United Nations Charter on Human Rights and Protection.
  5. Conducting prison visitations to provide welfare and support for victims of abuse.

He is an intelligent, resourceful, value-oriented, and positive-minded professional who enjoys reading, researching, and critical thinking. His humanitarian interventions bring positive impact and hope to the community.

  • Provision of welfare support and rehabilitation programs to prison inmates.
